Special Medical Procedures

Sometimes when medical treatment of a serious and permanent nature is proposed by parents and/or doctors for children under 18 years of age, it must first be approved by the Court.  The Court essentially has an inherent and overarching power in relation to the protection of minor children.  Examples of “special medical procedures” may include certain types of sterilisation procedures and procedures relating to gender.

It is an honour to work with these often vulnerable children, their families and medical teams to achieve the best health outcomes.
